About the Women and Video Games Festival
UNC Charlotte will host a series of events the week of February 15th - 20th 2016 to encourage women and girls to explore game design and programming, and to promote a creative gaming culture that is inclusive of individuals regardless of gender, race, or creed.
Events will include a keynote lecture by game critic Anita Sarkeesian on February 18th, as well as workshops, panel discussions and game jams.
Other participating organizations include WISE program of IT-oLogy, Project Scientist, and others.
These events will encourage participants to learn about computer science and informatics, wet their toes in tech waters by trying out various computing and programming activities, and to critically engage with issues of gender, technology and media culture.

Events are being organized and hosted by the UNC Charlotte's College of Computing and Informations, The Campus Activities Board, The Women's and Gender Studies Program, The Department of Art & Art History, The Center for Professional and Applied Ethics, Center for Teaching and Learning, Digital Arts Center (D-ARTS) of CoA+A, Central Piedmont Community College's Simulation and Game Development Program, and IGDA Charlotte. Events are funded in part by grant from the Chancellor's Diversity Challenge Fund.Other participating organizations include WISE program of IT-oLogy, Project Scientist, and others.
